1 Virat Kohli (RCB)
Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sachin Tendulkar are the two kingpins of Indian cricket. From his childhood, he played for the Delhi state team until he was selected for international cricket. He played the third-most IPL matches (207) and scored the most runs in the entire tournament. Virat has been the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain for eight long years.
While leading the team, he has been so dominant with his batting. He also led the team to the IPL finals 2016 but was not able to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad.
2 Virender Sehwag (DD)
Virender Sehwag played all his life for the Delhi Daredevils, his home state franchise. Sehwag led the team for five years, until the IPL 2012. After that, Mahela Jayawardene took over the leadership.
He played in 104 IPL matches and scored 2728 runs with a frightening strike rate of 156. He played a few matches in IPL later on, but he couldn’t keep going for Kings XI Punjab for long.
3 Gautam Gambhir (KKR)
Gautam Gambhir was the consistent opener for the Indian team during the previous era. He was a Ranji Trophy, and other domestic trophies, player for the Delhi team. Gautam played for Delhi Daredevils until 2011, under the captaincy of Virender Sehwag. However, KKR signed Gautam for the captaincy in the 2011 season.
Later, he spent seven long years with Kolkata Knight Riders, where he helped them win two IPL seasons. He returned to Delhi in 2018, but this time he only traveled for a handful of matches. Later, he spoke out about his frustrations with the team management.
4 Rishabh Pant (DC)
Rishabh Pan is in the fifth position. He made his IPL debut in 2016 with the Delhi Daredevils. He is now the skipper of the team, which defies his ability to give performances in the format.
He was however selected in IPL because of his aggressive batting style in the Ranji Trophy season 2015, where he played many offensive knocks, and helped Delhi win the state team.
5 Shikhar Dhawan (PBKS)
Since 2008, the “Gabbar” Shikhar Dawan has been the focus of each franchise. In 2008, he made his debut with Delhi Daredevils in a match against the Rajasthan Royals. Later, he moved to several franchises such as the Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He has spent his time playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad where he was the team’s captain for a few years. He played in 193 IPL matches and scored 5827 points with a strike rate 127.
